Food Pantry2

Food Pantry

Food Pantry – CUMC hosts the Food Pantry every Thursday from 10am-12pm.  We provide food items to community members who are in need due to financial distress from loss of income, loss of a home through natural disaster, or other circumstances.  The Food Pantry is stocked with donated perishable and non-perishable food products. Donated food or monetary gifts come from corporate grocer donations, government programs such as the USDA, Farm Share, local food drives, or personal gifts to the Pantry. Come and serve our community!

Sunday School and Small Groups

We believe God intended life to be lived in community.  While our worship services are great for worship and hearing the Word of God, small groups is where a life of faith is lived out.  It’s where we build close relationships, bear one another’s burdens, and wrestle with our fears, doubts and what it means to follow Jesus in our daily lives.  Some of our studies are based on common phases of life (seniors, singles, etc), some are organized around a particular study topic (prayer, generosity, etc), and others are Bible book studies. All are Chirst centered, Bible anchored, prayer supported life groups.

Missions

Missions involve a continuing cycle of going, evangelizing, discipleship and church planting. It is CUMC’s desire as an established church to be an active participant in evangelizing, creating disciples and sending out ministers of the gospel. Missions are only one way that a healthy church contributes to the great commission.  When we pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10), we are praying that gospel of Christ will be advanced as we prepare for His imminent return. We want Him to find us alert and working hard to advance His Kingdom when He returns, not lethargic and apathetic.  We currently support home missions.

Prison Ministry

Prison Ministry

The mission CUMC’s Prison Ministry at Franklin Correctional Institute is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities.  We believe that every person is made in the image of God, and that no one is beyond His reach. That means there is hope for restoration and healing for prisoners, their families, and all those who have been impacted by crime. Through Biblically based programs and a positive community, those who once broke the law can be transformed and mobilized to serve their neighbors, replacing the cycle of crime with a cycle of renewal.

Nursing Home Ministry

Nursing Home Ministry

The goal of CUMC’s Nursing Home Ministry at St. James Health and Rehabilitation Center is to reach out to the residents with the love of our Lord, the Word of God & the offer of salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord. We take the words of Matthew 25:40 as guiding words from the Lord, “In as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto Me.” It is our goal to share the Gospel with those needing salvation and to uplift and encourage those who have a relationship with the Lord. Statistics show that 85% of care center residents never receive a single visit from friends or relatives! Come and join Joyce Parmele on Wednesday’s at 10:00 and share the love of Christ.
